Pisati o telepsihijatriji danas, a ne spomenuti njezine pionire, bio bi prije svega odraz neobrazovanosti, op\u0107e (ne)kulture, pa i nedostatka nu\u017enog po\u0161tovanja profesije kojoj pripadam. Kao \u0161to se na\u0161e \u017eivotne pri\u010de dijele na vrijeme prije i vrijeme nakon rata, tako se i povijest psihijatrije dijeli na vrijeme prije i vrijeme nakon otkri\u0107a telepsihijatrije. Na\u017ealost, ve\u0107ina terapeuta (psihijatara, psihologa, psihoterapeuta) \u0161irom svijeta, otkrila je telepsihijatriju tek u vrijeme korona pandemije. Kada bih je spomenuo krajem devedesetih, danske kolege su obavezno, dijelom u \u0161ali, dijelom ozbiljno, pitale : \u201dA da to nije telepatija, jer tako mi nekako zvu\u010di?\u201d\n\nNas koji se \"terapijom na daljinu\" bavimo vi\u0161e od dvadeset godina, mo\u017ee se nabrojati na prste jedne ruke. Zahvaljuju\u0107i upornosti, entuzijazmu i posve\u0107enosti svojih pionira, telepsihijatrija je opstala \u0161est decenija pa, kona\u010dno, tek tokom pandemije u\u0161la na velika vrata na\u0161e klini\u010dke svakodnevice. Ali bolje ikad nego nikad, rekao bi mlad i neiskusan optimista.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

So, let’s start with the current definition.\u00a0 “Current”, because the definition has changed over the decades of telepsychiatry. Today, it covers the use of real-time video link in the assessment and\/or treatment of mental health conditions. Until the early 21st century, before we invented the term \u201ce-mental health,\u201d telepsychiatry also included the use of telephone and e-mail correspondence, and other forms of communication technologies, in providing mental health care. It is important to know this, because since COVID19 outbreak we have been witnessing the rapid use of technology and \u201dthe invention of the wheel\u201d, i.e. new names for something that has been known for over sixty years. So today we often read about digital-, online- or web-psychiatry and the like. Dear child has many names. But there is only one primordial name, given when it all started six decades ago. And it would be nice to know it, while we rightly use “nicknames”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
