FROM TELEPSYCHIATRY TO DIGITAL MENTAL HEALTH
For more than two decades, my work has focused on how technology can improve access, quality and equity in mental healthcare.
Beginning with transcultural telepsychiatry and cross-border psychiatric care, my work today encompasses telepsychiatry, Digital Mental Health, artificial intelligence, mHealth, implementation, cultural safety, clinical guidelines and education.
Technology is not an end in itself. Its value lies in helping clinicians provide safer, more accessible and more person-centred care.

TRANSCULTURAL TELEPSYCHIATRY
One of the central themes of my work has been overcoming linguistic, cultural and geographical barriers to psychiatric care.
In 2004–2005, I developed and implemented a transcultural telepsychiatry model in Denmark based on direct language and cultural matching between psychiatrist and patient.
In 2006, the model was extended across national borders through a Denmark–Sweden service, enabling refugees and migrants in Denmark to receive psychiatric care from psychiatrists speaking their own languages without the routine use of interpreters.
This work became the foundation for my later research into cross-cultural and international applications of telepsychiatry.

PREPARING THE NEXT GENERATION FOR DIGITAL PSYCHIATRY
Digital technologies are becoming part of routine psychiatric practice, while formal education has often struggled to keep pace.
I am developing educational concepts and curricula for medical students, psychiatry residents and mental health professionals, with a focus on telepsychiatry, AI, mHealth, ethics, patient safety and implementation.
I welcome collaboration with universities, medical schools and professional organisations.

LOOKING FOR PSYCHIATRIC CARE IN DENMARK?
I remain clinically active through Behandlingscentret Den Lille Prins in Copenhagen, providing psychiatric assessment and treatment through face-to-face consultations and telepsychiatry.
Selected services include ADHD assessment for adults with suspected ADHD, treatment and follow-up for adults with an established ADHD diagnosis, telepsychiatry and specialist psychiatric reports.

Biografska skica
Pionirski projekti iz telepsihijatre pokrenuti u klinici Mali Princ u Danskoj, popraćeni brojnim znanstvenim člancima, oblikovali su Davora Mucića u stručnjaka koji ima široko i duboko razumijevanje i kompetenciju u smislu znanja, vještina i iskustva stečenih kroz praksu i obrazovanje u području telepsihijatrije. Ostat će zapamćen kao tvorac potpuno novog modela u procjeni i tretmanu migranata. “Transkulturalna telepsihijatrija” omogućuje daljinsko “etničko podudaranje” i eliminira korištenje prevoditelja u kliničkom radu s migrantima koji ne govore jezik zemlje domaćina.
Svjetski poznati promotor telepsihijatrije, Davor Mucić, pokrenuo je prvu, pionirsku, međunarodnu telepsihijatrijsku službu u svijetu, povezujući terapeute u Švedskoj s pacijentima u Danskoj 2004-2007.
Kombinovanje kliničkog i naučnog rada usmjerenog na unapređenje zaštite mentalnog zdravlja pripadnika manjinskih etničkih zajednica (izbjeglice, azilanti i migranti) rezultirao je nizom pionirskih radova iz telepsihijatrije uključujući i objavljivanje naučnog bestselera ”e-Mental Health” (novo izdanje objavljeno 2024 "Digital Mental Health: The Future is Now”.Davor Mucić je 2020. godine dobio status Počasnog člana WPA i prvi je stekao doktorat iz oblasti telepsihijatrije u Evropi.
